CALLING ALL CHURCHES…

CALLING ALL CHURCHES TO INVEST TIME INTO THE LIVES OF CHILDREN WHO DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP.

The preacher was startled when the excited parishioner came to him after the service and said, “Your sermon really got to me this morning! I really do want to serve God. What can I do for the Kingdom?” The preacher thought for a moment and then suggested the fellow might come by on Saturday mornings to cut the church lawn.

God calls each one of us to be channels of his love through whom he can change the world. If that means mowing the church lawn, that is fine, but if you want to be part of a life-changing ministry, consider helping out this fall in the children’s program at Fellowship House of South Camden, where you might have the chance to change the life of a boy like Quadir.

When Quadir first came to Fellowship House as a 2nd grader, he struggled a lot with anger and a bad temper. Every day we would wonder how his day would go. One day he might be fine, but then the next day something would set him off. If someone said something he didn’t like, or he didn’t get his way, he could explode. We started giving Quadir individual attention and praying often for him. I explained to him that there was more strength in being able to control your temper than in letting it go wild.

Many of our boys see so many adult males around them who are physically strong but not necessarily strong in character. I told Quadir that if he sees a man yelling and losing his temper it actually shows his weakness, not strength. I challenged him that if he learned how to control his anger it would make him much stronger, and he would be an example to those around him.

Quadir is in 4th grade now. We are amazed at the young man he has become today. Quadir not only knows how to manage his anger but he encourages the younger ones to do the same. He has become an amazing leader--helping the younger kids, reminding his classmates to be thankful, and now… he is even writing his own worship songs. Yes, his own worship songs to God.

Recently I was driving the children home and I could hear Quadir humming a tune. I finally asked him what he was singing, thinking it must be one of the camp songs. He told me he was working on a song but that he only had the first part. I asked him to sing it and he sang-

“I never thought I’d see God, I never thought I’d see God, I never thought I’d see God until I stepped inside a church…”

The next day he was writing one about the fruits of the Spirit and asking if he could use one of the guitars to help him work it out.

The college interns who came to work at the summer camp this year were amazed by Quadir. “He is so respectful, he is always so grateful, he is such a good leader”, they would say. Today Quadir is a very strong boy… strong in character, strong in love, strong in leadership.

But I need your help! We are inviting all churches to come alongside us in this crucial mission. Please CALL ME TODAY AND SIGN UP FOR A WEEK.
