It is often said that the basic needs of every human are food/water, shelter and clothing- modern lists go on to include sanitation, education and healthcare. Oftentimes these are the only goals for children in impoverished areas. At Fellowship House we believe God wants much more for the children of Camden and that he has called us all to play a role in this:

John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

We want the children to have full lives--spiritually, academically and socially, so we go beyond the basics. Take academics. One of the many ways we are doing this is through STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities, along with the Arts and Sports. The children are learning about the Visual Arts (taught by Miranda Powell of Rutgers University), Sports (taught by Bible college students of Ground Zero Master’s Commission), Engineering and Math (such as building catapults and bridges), and Technology (Computer Coding)… and so much more!

They are having a blast while learning (mostly without realizing- the best way), and discovering new skills and interests.

Thank you everyone… together we are going beyond the basics!
