Opening the doors of possibility
It was a normal day of Reading Program, on a bright Friday afternoon at the Fellowship House. The kids were arriving and sitting down to a healthy snack prepared by the tutors, but we were still waiting for Robert. Robert’s grandfather would drop him off after school, but it was nearly time to begin tutoring. Finally Robert walked in with a big smile and we all welcomed him. “Why are you so late”, we asked. “My grandfather forgot to pick me up, so I used my grandmother’s phone to call him and ask him to come back for me, so I could come to Reading Program”, he said. Even though Robert struggled with reading, he clearly loved being at the Fellowship House and learning how to read!
Fellowship House is filled with children like Robert, children hungry to learn. In the past year:
- 94% of our students said they completed their homework regularly and were well-prepared for the next school day.
- 80% of our children reporting that they enjoy reading more and many are eager to join one of our reading clubs.
We can only serve our children through YOUR generosity. Please join us in opening the doors of possibility for these precious ones!
