We Are Wonderfully Made

“Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” played across the speakers during a dance performance by the Children of Fellowship House, at our 10th Annual Breakfast & Auction this past weekend. It was the perfect opening for our theme of “Wonderfully Made”, focusing on how God has made every child specially, loves them, and has a great plan for their lives!

Over 200 people were in attendance to learn about the great impact Fellowship House is having on the community of South Camden. People were inspired to hear all that is happening in our After School Program, Summer Camp, Reading Enrichment, Youth Program and Parent Program. And we celebrated a $250,000 gift from the estate of Dan Cheney to our capital campaign for building renovations. It truly was a day of celebration!

“I have never been around a group of children as well mannered, kind and loving as the children of Fellowship House. Though I’m there to help them, they teach me more than I could ever teach them” said Anne Malgrave, when sharing about her experience volunteering at Fellowship House.

Iona Townsend, who attended Fellowship House as a child and whosechildren now also attend, shared her personal story. She emphasized the important role Fellowship House plays in the community and how it is respected for the many years of work helping children and families. “They don’t just help at the After School Program,” she shared, “they do so much more...providing Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas gifts...they help the whole child.”

Children’s Program Director, Lisa McKinney, shared a powerful speech, as she spoke of how Fellowship House doesn’t just provide quality programming but said it’s strength is in the number of caring adults who daily convey to children that they are “truly wonderful made”and that “God has a great plan and purpose for each of them”.

Attendees were also able to bid on some exciting auction items including Golf outings at Marion & Tavistock, VIP Tickets to Live with Kelly, a VIP experience with the Philadelphia Phillies, gift baskets from local restaurants, and tickets to NFL, NBA and NHL games.

On behalf of the children, staff and board members, THANK YOU to all who attended, and to our sponsors- Tucker Company Worldwide, Independent Alarm, J Boys, Animo, and Always A Good Sign.
